With Liverpool monthly rents soaring above £500*, Countryside is offering home buyers some guidance on how to burst the rental bubble with its Help to Buy handy hints and tips at NGV Liverpool off Stalisfield Avenue.

In an effort to boost eligibility for the government-backed Help to Buy scheme, Countryside’s sales team developed the guide to help buyers’ overcome the challenges regularly faced when applying for a mortgage for the first time.

Peter Vella, Regional Sales and Marketing Director, said: “Our sales consultants have found that buyers tend to experience similar problems when applying for a mortgage. We’ve therefore teamed up with our Independent Financial Advisors to identify some simple but effective ways people can improve their eligibility and credit ratings.”

  1. Sign up for free trials to Experian to see your credit profile;
  2. Order a new report monthly to see improvement in your score;
  3. Register on the electoral roll;
  4. Have proof of residency e.g. utility bills;
  5. Have all credit payments up to date;
  6. Have no late payments for the past three months, especially phone bills and credit cards;
  7. Stay away from payday loans.

Peter added: “Embarking on buying a home can be an exciting but overwhelming process and we are keen to give buyers as much support and guidance as possible. Help to Buy is, as expected, helping many people onto the property ladder and by following these steps, even more people will be able to benefit from this fantastic scheme.”

Help to Buy is designed to give buyers an affordable route to buying a new property and is available across the range of three and four-bedroom homes at Countryside’s NGV Liverpool.

The scheme enables buyers to own 100% of their new home whilst receiving an interest free equity loan of up to 20%, requiring only a 5% deposit. For a home at NGV Liverpool priced at £123,000, buyers need only secure a mortgage for £98,400, needing a 5% deposit of only £6,150.
