Cllr Ann O’Byrne, Cabinet Member for Housing, joined housebuilder, Countryside, to officially launch the second phase of its flagship NGV Liverpool development; The Avenue at NGV Liverpool. The event, held on 19 September, marked the formal opening of the new Show Village at the new collection of two and three-bedroom homes off Broad Lane.
Attended by representatives of Liverpool City Council and its regeneration partner Sigma Inpartnership, the event marked the success so far achieved at the development, which launched in 2011 as part of the £200m transformation of a 63-acre site in Norris Green.
The launch of The Avenue at NGV Liverpool also marked the release of 170 high quality, affordable homes, 110 of which will be available on the open market through the government’s Help to Buy scheme. 20 of the new homes will be available for private rent, with 40 also available through registered social landlords.
The launch of The Avenue at NGV Liverpool adds to the 202 new homes built and occupied since the development was officially launched by Countryside with Cllr Joe Anderson in 2011.
The new instalment will see Countryside stretch its legs and grow the thriving NGV Liverpool neighbourhood out towards the historic Norris Green Park, just a few miles from Liverpool city centre.
To mark the release of the properties, Countryside has also unveiled its brand new show village to showcase the homes, which include the two-bedroom Walbrook, and the three-bedroom Ashwell and Ellesmere.
Once complete, the tenure blind NGV Liverpool development is set to comprise a total of 825 new homes, neighboured by green open spaces and a range of local amenities, including Monksdown CP Primary School and Ellergreen Community Centre.
Ian Kelley, Managing Director, Countryside Northern, commented: “Since launching NGV Liverpool with Liverpool City Council and Regeneration Liverpool, the development has grown to become a vibrant neighbourhood of high quality homes knitted together by green open spaces. This established community is attracting a new generation of first time buyers and young families, which was always our vision for the scheme.
“The Avenue at NGV Liverpool is set to build on this success and really raise the bar for suburban living in Liverpool. Demand for affordable new homes is continuing to grow and our commitment to creating places people love, along with our partnership with Regeneration Liverpool, will see NGV Liverpool continue to go from strength to strength over the coming years.”
Graeme Hogg is director at Regeneration Liverpool, which is a joint venture between Liverpool City Council and regeneration specialist Sigma Inpartnership Ltd. He said: “It is fantastic to see the launch of this latest housing phase which is transforming the Norris Green area and making a massive difference to people’s lives. This continued investment into the area is vital and will have far reaching results not only for existing local residents but also for the wider community. We are delighted with the feedback on the quality of the new homes and the new environment that is being created here. We look forward to continuing to work with our partners at Countryside and Liverpool City Council in delivering this important regeneration scheme.”
Assistant Mayor and Cabinet member for housing, Councillor Ann O’Byrne, said: “This is a fantastic, high quality development delivering many much needed affordable new homes for sale and rent in Norris Green. This is the latest stage in the transformation of this area and is part of our commitment to creating thriving communities across Liverpool by building and refurbishing thousands of homes.”
Each of the new homes at The Avenue at NGV Liverpool will include open-plan layouts intelligently designed to address the needs of modern family living. The homes will also come complete with Countryside’s high quality specification, including a range of additional fittings, integrated appliances and flooring fitted throughout.
Countryside is currently offering buyers at NGV Liverpool the chance to purchase through the popular Help to Buy scheme, through which buyers own 100% of their property, whilst receiving an equity loan of 20% and contributing a small deposit of only 5%.
