Siobhan Taylor (23) and her partner David Gonzalez (33) can’t wait to leave their rented property behind and move into their very own brand new three-bedroom home at Countryside’ NGV development in Liverpool.

The couple, from Tuebrook who both work as production engineers in Liverpool, were able to get onto the property ladder thanks to the new government Help to Buy scheme.

Siobhan said: “We really did our research when looking for our first home, and looked at a number of developments around Liverpool who were offering Help To Buy. We decided to go with Countryside for a number of reasons, they are a bigger company with a good reputation, the development is really close to our family and friends and the house itself just sold it to us.”

Help to Buy, which was unveiled in the March Budget, is designed to give buyers a step up onto the property ladder, enabling them to own 100% of the property while receiving an interest free equity loan of up to 20% and requiring only a 5% deposit.*

Siobhan continued: “It was frustrating living in a rented house, which was on the small side with no garden as we couldn’t make it homely and decorate it in the way we wanted. We found out about the scheme and realised this was the only way we would be able to buy our own place without spending years saving for a deposit.”

Through Help-to-Buy, buyers can get a mortgage of £92,250* requiring a deposit of only £6,150*, with average monthly mortgage payments of only £397*. They receive a government-backed interest free loan of £24,600*. Prices for three bedroom homes start from just £98,400*. In comparison to average £593 monthly rent for an equivalent Liverpool property (, buying a new home is cheaper than renting.

“We are so excited to move in. The kitchen is going to be gorgeous as we’ve been able to choose everything to suit our exact taste. Plus having a garden to enjoy the summer in will be brilliant. We even have friends that are looking move just around the corner on the development too.”

Liverpool home buyers can get free one-on-one financial advice on how the new government Help to Buy scheme can get them on the property ladder at an open weekend on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 June, from 11am-6pm. The open weekend is taking place at the sales suite located on Deanscales Road, Liverpool, giving local buyers the opportunity to drop in and speak to a financial expert who will guide them through the process step by step.

Peter Vella, regional sales and marketing director at Countryside, said: “NGV has transformed into an attractive and maturing development that is drawing interest from lots of young professional couples like Siobhan and David.

“The lower deposit of only 5% coupled with the low mortgage payments really does make it a more affordable option to buy rather than rent.”

A beautiful collection of three-bedroom detached and semi-detached family houses are currently available for sale. With each new home at NGV, buyers benefit from a fully-fitted kitchen, complete with integrated fridge-freezer, a contemporary white bathroom suite and flooring fitted throughout.

The NGV Show Village is open Thursday to Monday from 11am until 6pm at 32 Deanscales Road, Liverpool, L11 2XU for buyers to browse the range of new homes. For more information visit or contact the sales team on Tel: 0151 9095508 or e-mail
